Getting Hotter
We have now arrived at the armpit of summer.
Sweat is the operative word.
Bugs that bite and weeds that make you itch (or sneeze) follow in close progression.
Tell me again why everyone is supposed to love summer.
Ok, tirade over.
Deja vu happened all over again. Twice! Within the last week! Very intense deja vu. Not just your garden variety "haven't I been here before" type. It was a total time shift deja vu. One involved a person I haven't seen since high school. She sat and talked with me last weekend and I swear we've had that very same conversation before! The second involved a book I was reading. I'm positive I've read that book before, but that's impossible because it's a newly published book.
Maybe the armpit of summer is shifting me between parallel universes.
I wonder if I have two black cats from hell in the other universe? I wonder if I can upload pictures to my blog in that other universe......
Otherwise, the rest of my week has been very pleasant. Got to see my grandson pitch for the first time. He's in third grade so he only got to pitch for 2 innings, but he actually struck a few players out. Grandpa Wordy One spent most of the game behind the camera lens, so we have great pics of the event. Our son is one of the coaches, which made it even better, especially when they won 11-2.
Tuesday was Yak and Knit night at my favorite little yarn shop. Nothing better than spending time with friends and fiber! The "matinee jacket" (a sweater) that I'm knitting for my niece's baby (due in August) is finally behaving. I haven't had to rip out any rows for a long time, probably because Ethel and Purl have been showing marvelous restraint and haven't recently jumped into my lap while I'm knitting. I may actually finish this thing before the baby is born! Yee Haa!
This weekend I will be staying as close to air-conditioning as possible. Tropical temps are forecast and I'm hunkering down. The Wordy One and I should make an appearance at another small town festival, but I think we'll pass and save the expense of a visit to the ER for heat exhaustion. No corn dog or funnel cake is worth being drenched in sweat. Besides, the county fair is only two weeks away. A week of corn dogs.....we can wait.
I have good books. I have my knitting. I have my paints. I have air-conditioning.
Even in the armpit of summer, life is good.
Til later
Be cool.
